Ragamuffin Top Challenge – Week 4

Well, my eating habits were sort of sporadic this week. One day was quite healthy and light; the next day was pizza with friends. I need to find some more discipline with my eating habits. As far as exercise, I had a couple days of carrying tons of sound equipment for practices and went walking once this week.

Last week (and highest weight ever): 242 lbs.

This week: 241 lbs.

Ultimate measurable goal: 6 lbs. per month for 1 year (72 lbs.) putting me down to 170 lbs. (from 242).

One pound lost. Not much but it’s better than going the other direction!

The problem is that the next two weeks will be spent leading worship at youth camps. That could be good for exercise and physical activity. That could also be bad for controling what I eat. Youth camp menus aren’t known for their nutritional value…I’ll do my best!

My goal: next Saturday I want to get under 240.

Here’s the post for the week 4 challenge on RagamuffinSoul.com.

Four days to camp!!!

In four days, I will be prepping for the first worship service of the SC Wesleyan Middle School Camp! I wish it were now! I can’t wait! Tons of crazy teens, screaming guitars, Steven Day melting people’s faces off with his beats, and, most importantly, people worshiping Jesus and finding their worth in Him! I wish it were RIGHT NOW!

I can’t wait to spend the next two weeks out there at Table Rock. I’m excited to see a lot of good friends that will be counselors for the week. I’m also excited to spend the next couple weeks with the band guys. Those guys definitely know how to have fun no matter what.

Here’s some of the things I can’t wait to see at camp:

  • Teens pouring themselves out to worship our King
  • People finding the love of Jesus
  • Broken relationships mended
  • Sins forgiven and scars erased
  • Lives restored
  • Life purpose gained and vision given
  • Love poured out into these teens (and all of us there!)

Oh, and I also can’t wait for:

  • The Long Awaited and Feared Return of “TUBE-O-MANIA
  • Heath will sadly not be there, but the Primal Yell will return!
  • A late night “American Waffle” run…not so excited about the “run” that will incur a few hours later.
  • Late night “God-only-knows-what-will-happen” times with BG, Steve, Tanner, Brady, Dustin, and all the leadership guys

New hope for the Wesleyan Church!

Earlier this week, at the 2008 General Conference meeting of the Wesleyan Church, history was made when the Wesleyan Church voted in our first female General Superintendent, Dr. Jo Anne Lyon, founder of World Hope International. WHI is a relief missions organization focused on eradicating injustice and meeting the needs of the poor and oppressed.

I hope to see Dr. Lyon bring a new hope of living out the Gospel message that I sometimes feel has been lost in the highest realms of denominational leadership. As Phillip Modlin said, “I think she will get the job done and push some of the ‘do nothings’ at the top to do something!”

CodyLThomas.com is live!

I finally made the decision to have my own site. Switching from having my blog on WordPress.com to hosting my own WordPress software blog gives me tons of new options. I can download any WordPress theme from the internet and customize EVERYTHING! Total control over colors, fonts, sidebars, sizes, orders, and more. It’s really sweet! I think I have finished designing and working out the bugs in the CSS code.

So here’s your part:

  • If I’m on your blogroll, make sure to change the link to http://codylthomas.com/ (don’t forget the “L”).
  • If you subscribe to my blog through a reader or email, make sure to click the new feed links at the top right of this page to get the new site feed.
  • Leave a comment to let me know what you think of the new site.
  • If there are any bugs in the layout or bad links when you view the site, let me know by commenting.
  • Feel free to click any of the ads.  They use the content and keywords on the site to do targeted advertising.  Most of them should be at least somewhat related to the site content.

Hope you like it!  Keep coming back!  If you’re not blogging yet, you need to!

Mind Dump

Here’s a bunch of thoughts and life stuff:

  • Getting up at 5:30am was horrible! I got into bed after midnight and couldn’t sleep well all night. Then, I had to drive up to Bessemer City, NC for early morning worship practice. I can’t wait to go to sleep tonight!
  • Practice and worship up at First Wesleyan Church in Bessemer City went great this morning. The band is awesome! They are some great guys and really talented musicians! Ward, thanks for the opportunity to lead worship up there! It was fun!
  • It’s been a good week overall! I had 5 different people offer to put my name in for open church positions. Some were people who were leaving their current position and wanted to recommend me to replace them; a couple were senior pastors who wanted me to put in my resumé for a position at their own church; and another was someone who wanted to recommend me for a position he heard about. Good things might be happening!
  • Speaking of those positions, there is one position in particular that Kindel and I are leaning more towards. It would be a great opportunity for serving and seeing life change (in us and others).
  • I’m beginning to really enjoy twitter. HOWEVER, it would be REALLY awesome if more people would give it a shot! If you’re still curious about twitter, check out this video explaining twitter in plain English.
  • The SWU ministry teams started heading out to camps this weekend. I spent one night doing a Q&A time with a bunch of them. Hanging out with them made me want to jump in a van and go with them. I definitely miss traveling! Those were some of the best times of my life!
  • I’m working on building my own blog through WordPress.org and getting my own domain. Stay tuned for more details!
  • Practice for camp is on Tuesday! All week will be spent preparing for two straight weeks of camp! SWEET!
  • I’ve been sick all night. Stomach sick too. Not fun. I think it’s over though. I’m going to attempt to eat now.

Sick and Tired of It – Weigh In Week 3

Well, after weighing in this morning, I am officially changing the title of my weigh in posts to “Sick & Tired Of It”. I am SICK and TIRED of weighing this much. It’s awful. I WILL lose weight by next weigh in!

Goal: 175 lbs

Last week: 241.5 lbs

This week:

242 lbs!

I’m sick and tired of this! It’s time for war! Here’s the link back to the Ragamuffin Top Challenge.
